KENNETH AHN

PRESIDENT

Kenneth Ahn is currently working in the L.A. Mayor Karen Bass’s Office of Transition, helping with the set up of the new administration. He previously worked for Karen Bass in Congress for 7.5 years. Kenneth has a B.A. in Psychology from U.C. San Diego and his Master in Social Work degree from the University of Southern California.

 

STEVE KANG

CHAIRMAN

Steve Kang is the Director of External Affairs at KYCC where he oversees communications, grants, special events, government, and community affairs. In addition, Steve is a Commissioner on the Central Area Planning Commission at the City of Los Angeles. Prior to joining KYCC, Mr. Kang served as District Director in the California State Assembly and Executive Director of the Korean American Coalition (KAC). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with honors from Columbia University and a Master of Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE. In 2016, Mr. Kang was honored by the Empowerment Congress as one of 40 Emerging Civic Leaders Under 40.

 

SERAPIA KIM

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Serapia Kim (she/they) is a second-year law student at UC Irvine School of Law. Prior to law school, she worked for Congressman Jimmy Gomez, the Mayor of Los Angeles, and Assemblymember Miguel Santiago. Serapia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy at Williams College. In her free time, she enjoys bouldering, gardening, and taking care of her cat.

 

EUNHA CHOI

VICE PRESIDENT

Eunha Choi serves as the Assistant Director of Public Affairs and Outreach at Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC), a specialty medical nonprofit based in DTLA. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Latin American literatures and cultures at NYU, she moved to Los Angeles and taught at Cal State Long Beach and the Claremont Colleges. Then, she left academia for public interest work, first at a nonprofit providing legal representation to immigrant minors and later at a state Assemblymember’s office. Her policy passions are to advocate for increased and more just housing and public space equity.

JOHN YI

SECRETARY

John Yi is the Executive Director at Los Angeles Walks and is a long time community organizer with experience in areas of transportation justice, tobacco control, and public education. He’s a native Angeleno, loves cooking, and has a pet dog, Wilshire, with his partner.

 

LESLIE SHIM

Leslie Shim is a Management Analyst at the City of Los Angeles. She is a former Executive Board Member/Secretary for KADC and a former Assembly District 53 Delegate for California Democratic Party Democratic State Central Committee. She became involved with justice activism while attending UCLA undergrad and advocating for same-sex marriage in the state of California. She loves being Korean because of how loyal, stubborn, and tenacious our people are. Proud to serve the community! Ubuntu!

 

CAROLINE KIM PALACIOS

Caroline Kim Palacios is currently serving as a senior project coordinator for the City of Los Angeles' Economic and Workforce Development Department where she leads small business support and inclusive economic development programs. As a social sector leader and entrepreneur, she is passionate about advancing equitable outcomes for immigrant and BIPOC communities. Caroline received her Master's of Public Administration from the USC Price School and her B.A. in Diplomacy & World Affairs from Occidental College.

 

ANDREW TRUMAN KIM

 

ERIC MOON

Eric Moon currently serves as a Field Representative for California Assemblymember Miguel Santiago who represents the areas of Koreatown, Downtown Los Angeles, and Boyle Heights in the 54th Assembly District. He has successfully assisted constituents with applying for and receiving unemployment benefits, rental assistance, and CalFresh; and organized various district events like REAL ID mobile pop up events where hundreds of community members easily obtained REAL ID cards from the DMV. He is a recent graduate from UC Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in History of Public Policy and a minor in Asian American Studies. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, watching old movies, and taking pictures of anything and everything around him.

DANIEL PARK

Daniel Park is a Deputy for Constituent Engagement for Los Angeles Supervisor Holly Mitchell.

 

JUSTIN LEE

Justin Lee is an LA native whose seen the landscape of my childhood evolve and blossom over time. He is excited to be part of a board and an organization that wants to encourage involvement in civic activities for the betterment of all. He is also an avid supporter of the arts in all forms of media.

 

DAVID KIM

David Kim is a staff attorney at Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, where he represents and defends parents and families in children's court. He ran for U.S. Congress in CA's 34th Congressional District in the 2020 and 2022 cycles, and almost unseated the incumbent in his last run, by winning 49% of the total general election votes. Outside of work and community organizing, David likes to take walks with his dog, Tata, and find fun adventures to embark on, with his partner, family and friends.

 

NICHOLAS RYU

Nicholas Ryu is the Sustainability and Natural Resources Manager for the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, where he oversees environmental programs that serve 31 cities across the San Gabriel Valley. A sustainability and public sector professional, he has also worked for the Los Angeles Mayor's Office of City Services as an Infrastructure Policy and Services Manager, for the Department of Energy, and for the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. He holds a Master's degree in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary. He is also a CORO Climate Resilience and Leadership Network Fellow, and is a fellowship alumnus of the Council of Urban Professionals and the Clean Energy Leadership Institute.

ROBERT PARK

Robert Park is a lifelong resident of Koreatown and a proud product of L.A.'s public schools. He currently serves Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as an Economic Infrastructure Manager for the City of L.A. He also served in economic and community relations roles for six years for former Mayor Eric Garcetti. Prior to that, he served for two years under California State Assemblymember Miguel Santiago as a field representative. After work, you can find Robert walking his beloved dog, Charlie the Corgi.

 

JENNIFER PARK

Jennifer Park is the Director of Certification and Community for Bloomberg Philanthropies’ What Works Cities, the nation’s most comprehensive philanthropic effort to enhance cities’ use of data and evidence.

 

SU IN LEE

Su In Lee is currently serving the LA City as the Field Deputy, Small Business Liaison at LA City Council District 4 (Councilmember Nithya Raman). Prior, she has experiences in working with international community as a Program Manager of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea as well as the local communities through the congressional campaigns in LA County and Orange County. Her true passion lies in making politics accessible for everyone. She holds the Masters of Public Diplomacy and Bachelor of Arts in Communication from University of Southern California.
